Pre-Event Preparation (2-3 Days Before)
- Deep clean guest bathroom: scrub toilet, tub, sink, mirrors, and floors
- Wash guest bed linens, towels, and extra blankets
- Clean and declutter common areas: living room, dining room, kitchen
- Dust all surfaces including shelves, mantels, and light fixtures
- Vacuum carpets, rugs, and upholstery thoroughly
- Clean windows and mirrors for a sparkling finish
- Organize coat closet and clear space for guest belongings
- Clean and set up guest room with fresh linens and welcome touches
Kitchen Ready for Cooking
- Clean oven, stovetop, and range hood for heavy cooking days
- Empty and clean refrigerator to make room for holiday ingredients
- Clean microwave and small appliances
- Organize pantry and check spice freshness
- Sanitize countertops and ensure ample counter space
- Empty dishwasher and ensure dish soap supply
- Set out serving dishes, utensils, and trivets in easy reach
Guest Bathroom Must-Haves
- Stock toilet paper, hand soap, and lotion
- Provide fresh hand towels and a bath towel per guest
- Clean and shine mirrors and glass surfaces
- Empty trash and add a fresh bag
- Add a small candle or air freshener for a welcoming scent
- Wipe down shower if guests will use it
- Check for and remove any personal items from sight
Decor and Ambiance
- Dust and clean all holiday decorations before displaying
- Test all string lights and replace burned-out bulbs
- Clean fireplace mantel and ensure safe fire setup if applicable
- Arrange seating for comfortable conversation flow
- Set out coasters and napkins to protect surfaces
- Adjust thermostat for guest comfort
- Create a playlist or set up background music
Day-Of Quick Reset (1 Hour Before Guests)
- Do a final vacuum of high-traffic areas
- Wipe down kitchen counters and sink
- Fluff pillows and arrange throws neatly
- Empty all trash cans and replace bags
- Light candles or diffuse a subtle seasonal scent
- Do a smell walkthrough of the house
- Turn on warm lighting and adjust blinds for ambiance
Post-Event Recovery
- Load dishwasher and hand-wash delicate items
- Wipe down all kitchen surfaces and appliances used
- Collect and launder table linens and napkins
- Vacuum crumbs and spot-clean any spills on carpets
- Empty trash and recycling from all rooms
- Return furniture to normal layout
- Schedule a post-holiday deep clean if needed
